Let's take a trip to Hongdae, a neighborhood full of vibrant energy!

I think Hongdae truly has it all. Clothing stores, great restaurants, cafes, and even clubs!

On weekend evenings especially, there are many street performers, which makes for a fun time.

Hongdae also has many unique prop shops and independent designer stores, which are a lot of fun to browse.

My foreign friends absolutely love the K-pop merchandise stores and Korean street food.

You should try tteokbokki, eomuk (fish cakes), and dak-kkochi (chicken skewers), among other things!

They're delicious.

Category Description Remarks Recommended Time
Watching Street Performances Various performances like busking, dancing, etc. Many on weekend evenings Friday/Saturday evenings
Exploring Unique Cafes Theme cafes, rooftop cafes, etc. Many 감성적 (aesthetic/sentimental) spaces Afternoon
Exploring Restaurants Fusion food, street food, etc. Wide range of prices and types Lunch/Dinner time
Shopping Road shops, select shops, goods shops Many unique items All day

Please be careful!

The area around Hongik University Station (Hongdae) can get very crowded due to the large number of people. Be especially mindful of pickpockets and keep a close eye on your personal belongings, particularly on weekends and in the evenings.

Bukchon Hanok Village is a serene and beautiful place located right in the heart of Seoul, so much so that it's hard to believe such a quiet spot exists.

The sight of all the traditional tiled-roof houses, or "hanoks," clustered together is truly a work of art. Since Bukchon is an actual residential area where people live, it's important to explore the village quietly.

Many visitors rent hanbok, the traditional Korean attire, to wear and take photos. Walking through the tranquil hanok alleyways in a hanbok turns you into a living painting. If you're looking to capture some unique and unforgettable photos, I highly recommend the hanbok experience.

Things to Know Before You Go

Please remember! Bukchon Hanok Village is a neighborhood with many residents. When you visit, please refrain from making noise and absolutely do not trespass on private property. Be sure to be quiet and respectful during your visit.
